We Smell The Rain is an Amsterdam-based design studio creating unique ways to bring nature indoors. Our focus is on bridging the gap between nature and the city. Our aesthetic is clean and minimal with an emphasis on quality materials, detailed finishing and craftsmanship.
We design and create elegant installations, products and artworks which take the natural world as a starting point. Influenced by Japanese, Scandinavian and Mid-century design principles, We Smell The Rain celebrates the simplicity and integrity of natural materials and processes.
Established by Kim Band, We Smell The Rain was born out of a desire to connect back to nature. Kim’s creative calling is to showcase the everyday elements of nature, often taken for granted. In hopes to inspire and remind people to treat nature with kindness.
Working as a creative for some of the world’s most recognisable brands, Kim discovered that city living left her craving the wild beauty of her childhood homes in South Africa and New Zealand.
Bringing together over a decade of Kim's professional experience in Creative Direction, Art Direction and Brand Design for the likes of Harrods, Nike, Adidas, G-Star RAW and Byborre, We Smell The Rain came into life in 2015.
